Hi Manisha, Obviously remove it from the tank first, but we would recommend you remove the cartridge, etc., and flip it upside down to check the motor. Inspect it for any hair line cracks in the bottom of the filter box, or a pinched red o ring around the motor. Twist the motor to remove it, and inspect it as well. Look for cracks in particular as well as no o ring or a damaged o ring. We recommend you give us a call if you are unable to correct this issue. We would be happy to help! There are lots of ways, but each tank is different and its own slice of nature, so you have to experiment to find what works for it. Expect each method to take some time, and don't make too many changes at once. Here are what we recommend: - reduce feeding to twice a day, one piece of food per fish or what they can eat in less than 30 sec - make sure you are not overstocked, a 10 gallon can hold up to 10' of adult, small fish like tetras or platys, barbs, etc.

Change your thinking change your life pdf. It can be the cartridge if overfeeding is occurring, or it can be that the filter has pulled debris into the motor region or the impeller. Unplug the filter, remove it from the tank, and take it apart. It may be a simple as hair wrapped around the impeller. This is a common issue and easily remedied with tweezers. Over time, other things like hard water buildup, algae, sludge, etc., can cause this issue, but I suspect you are either over feeding or some gravel grit is interfering with the impeller, something along these lines.
